Keep Your New Hardwood Floors in Peak Condition

Keep Your New Hardwood Floors in Peak Condition

Maybe you just made a smart investment in refinishing your hardwood floors. What can you do to maintain them for years to come?

Most importantly, after your floors have been expertly refinished, it’s vital that you allow all the stains and finishes used to completely cure. It can take up-to 30-days for the stains and sealants to “cure”. For the first 30-days, use a dry mop, no chemicals or cleaners of any kind, to maintain the floors.

After that first 30-days, you should use white vinegar, or Windex, without any ammonia, to clean the floors with a 1:3 ratio of vinegar/Windex, to water. Preferably use something along the lines of a dry pad Swiffer, or a sponge mop, not necessarily a string mop, for regular cleanings.

Well maintained hardwood floors will be a key factor in keeping up the beauty and value of your home.
